My Approach

My training in behavior therapy, psychodynamics and family therapy allows me to draw upon different techniques when working with others. I look at how personal, relational and global themes could be impacting your unique situation. I strive to create a collaborative working relationship and build a space in which you feel heard and understood.

Behavioral therapy

At times, behavioral changes are enough to feel improvement.  Together, we will come to understand the ways in which your thoughts, emotions and behaviors are separate but connected to one another and can influence each other.  Once we’ve determined what concrete actions need to be made, if any, we will explore what steps are needed in order to make that change.

Psychodynamic therapy

More often, getting a deeper understanding of our operating principles can be crucial in making a change.  Through curiosity around your beliefs and understanding family origins, we will begin to gain more insight into how you operate in the world.  Having this self awareness often engenders change in people.

Family therapy

Family therapy can be used for individuals, couples, friends or of course, families.  It allows for people to think about themselves in relation to others, including institutions.  Understanding ourselves as part of systems can help us navigate through them if possible.  We are not just individuals, but people who are in relationships with friends, coworkers, families and in larger systems.
