About Me

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (pronouns: he/him/his) who is dedicated to helping my clients with the struggles that they bring to therapy.  I believe my queer identify has in part influenced my work by incorporating a social justice framework.

I grew up in suburban Pennsylvania and as a young adult, I moved to California for several years and ultimately landed in New York.  Meeting new people along the way, combined with my experience of being queer in predominately straight spaces, only increased my fascination in how similarly and differently we can think and behave with each other.

It wasn’t until my own experience with therapy that allowed me to understand how I operated in the world.  Therapy for me became a dedicated weekly space to interrogate my deeply rooted beliefs, heal from old wounds, learn new ways to express old emotions and expand my perspective on how the world works.  This has been beneficial in my life and I look forward to working with others so they too can see how therapy can help.

Searching for a therapist to work with is an investment and clients often find it helpful to have certain information about me before they start our work.  For this reason, I disclose upfront my privileged identities of being white and cisgender male. If we decide to work together, I’ll expand on those identities or others in how they relate specifically to our working relationship.

I also enjoy reading (mostly nonfiction) , baking and shopping for vintage clothes online.

My Experience

I graduated from Fordham University in 2012 with a Masters in Social Work and started my experience in the field of addiction, including opioid treatment and outpatient substance abuse programs.  During that time I primarily focused using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques while working with individuals, couples, families and facilitated groups.

To learn more beyond using CBT, in 2017, I completed a two year post graduate training at Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy as well as became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.  That’s also the same year I started my private practice and focused on my psychodynamics training as I worked with individuals who wanted help with anxiety, self esteem, life transitions, depressive symptoms and other concerns.

I gained more competency in working with people in relationships by completing a four year externship at Ackerman Institute for the Family in 2021.  There I learned to think systemically as I worked with couples and families.  The concerns people brought during my training there spanned from premarital counseling, to separation, to co parenting, to conflict issues with adult siblings and beyond.

In addition to my training and experience, I attend two peer supervision groups and continue to receive individual supervision for support and also to continue to grow as a therapist.
